• To serve every student, Dental surgeon, instructor, and client with remarkable customer service.
• To build relationships with Dental Surgeons all over East Africa and beyond.
Course Overview
• Implant Dentistry is one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing areas within oral health care. Despite the increasing popularity of implantology, it is a relatively new discipline within dental education. It remains limited to post-graduate courses offered by dental schools in many parts of the world today.
• With the vision to help dental practitioners gain a clinical understanding of implantology and an opportunity to provide implant treatments to their patients, the Faculty of DAC College (Accredited by TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority) developed this curriculum to provide world-class quality, unbiased, evidence-based and clinically-oriented course in this discipline.
What is the aim of the course?
The DAC implantology course has a strong clinical focus and is designed to enhance professional learning among dental practitioners and dental students. The course aims to help the students LEARN the fundamentals of implant dentistry, UNDERSTAND the treatment procedures and protocols, and APPLY the competences gained through interactive peer and case-based learning.
Course Overview
The DAC Implantology course includes three modules and runs for 9 Months run once a year. This unique programme will allow dental practitioners to maintain their clinical work whilst training and developing new Dental Implantology skills at their own pace.
We will begin the journey of Implant Dentistry by exploring how discoveries in biology and technological developments lead to the current practice of dental implants.
Then, we will examine clinical cases, diagnose our patients’ needs and expectations, and learn treatment planning principles.
We will learn step-by-step surgical procedures for placing implants and various restorative techniques, directed by current evidence and best practices.
Finally, we will investigate major threats and complications of implant procedures and ways to ensure successful treatments and long serving implants.
Key features
• Hands-On Training: This will be delivered both on patients and in a dental simulator (Phantom head) facility where one-to-one teaching will be provided for all participants.
• Participants will perform effective, hands-on exercises via live demonstration on patients. This establishes a foundation for predictable and safe Dental Implantology treatment. They will also receive personalised instruction during the hands-on sessions.
• All teaching materials (Except extracted teeth) will be provided as part of the module’s components.
• This programme will be a combination of online lectures (Via Zoom or Google Class), webinars, and hands-on training, including case-based discussions to improve patients’ clinical care and job satisfaction. A link will be sent to registered participants for online classes.
• Continental snacks are included every day.
